Read 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV in your Bible
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
- There are many examples in the Bible of men and women who trusted God in difficult situations. The ability to be without fear is truly not something we can have on our own. in Daniel chapter 6 Daniel had to trust God when he was put in the lion's den. He was falsely accused and punished when he didn't do anything wrong. The angel of God shut the lion's mouths and kept him safe. Daniel Praised God for his safety. In the book of Ester Chapters 3-9. Queen Ester had to choose between walking in peace and power into King Xerxes chamber to save her people or to be timid and fearful and watch all her people die. There was a rule that anyone who came before the king without being invited would be punished by death. Ester trusted God and with the help of the holy spirit was able to be bold and as a result, her family and all their relatives were saved.
The reason this verse 2 Timothy 1:7 is so important is because everybody feels fear at some time and many people are feeling fearful right now. God reminds us He has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-discipline. God invites us to always do the right thing even if no one else is and to test everything by his Word, the Bible.
1. 1. Read 2 Timothy 1:7 every single day this week as a reminder to not be fearful.
2. Talk to the members of your family and ask them what they are afraid of and tell them what you are afraid of and pray for one another. Continue to pray for one another until you see victory over these fears as God works.
3. Ask God to give you the power to complete a task you have been putting off. Ask God to give you love toward someone who has hurt you or that you have been mad at. Be self-disciplined to keep doing what you know is right, even when it is difficult.
